Building your own system can be easily done. It doesn’t always require a geek to choose the component and connect them. It always comes down to what you need and how much you’re able to shell out for your own dream computer. Majority of people would say that it’s much better to get a PC which already made and available in the market take for example DELL which offers many different types computer system already assembled and certified by DELL with a warranty for all the parts used.
Well I would still say building your own pc is the most wisest choice because sometime the manufacturers use inferior parts in their system to keep the entire cost down and you can’t upgrade them whenever you want as doing that might result in the voiding of your warranty.
One of the best outcome of choosing parts to build your own dream machine is that you can exactly choose what you need and how much you need and upgrade the parts whenever you see fit to do so.

1. Estimate your Budget:
Before you rush out to the market to get the market you must first set a budget for machine you want. It’s a very important step because there are many latest components that are too expensive and are not worth the extra bucks. Keep in mind that you can build a very fast and state of the art PC just under $1000. So calculate the money your willing to spend.
2. Parts that you need:
One of the joys of building your own computer is that you have the choice of choosing the components you need. But the basic parts that you need first are:
- Case with a power supply.
- Motherboard. Most motherboards these days come with integrated video, audio and network cards.
- Processor
- RAM
- Hard disk
- Graphics card (if you’re a casual gamer)
- DVD/CD drive
3. Which processor should I choose AMD or INTEL?
Well it’s a difficult question no doubt. Well when it comes down to it you can consider these two options. If you’re looking for performance in gaming or other areas then AMD would be the best choice but if you’re looking for more processing power INTEL would be the best solution. The minimum processor you should get is a QUAD CORE processor. There are many types of quad core processor but INTEL i7 or AMD PHENOM x4 would be ideal and accordingly will allow you to choose the type of motherboard.
4. Motherboard:
Well after your done selecting the processor motherboard shouldn’t be that difficult as there are various motherboard manufacturers available among them the most affordable and reliable motherboards are from MSI, GIGABYTE, ASUS and among others. Make sure to choose a motherboard that will fit in the casing.
5. Choosing RAM:
Well if you’re a gamer or a person who works with video editing and such or just a casual user then minimum amount of RAM that you would need is 4 GB. The motherboards support DDR3 RAM. If you’re a gamer and not on a budget then you should go for RAM with higher clock speeds and outfitted with a heat sink which will prevent you’re RAM from overheating and slowing down your game or worse crashing it. These gaming RAM also have the option of over clocking to match your processor so that you get smoothest performance ever.
My current desktop is 2.5 years old that I put together myself. I chose all the parts, and made sure that they are brand name. I always go with brand name parts when building a computer, mainly because in computers “you get what you pay for.”
The one component I did ensure I spent good money was the power supply. Because this is the component that will control the power to the computer, if this component has problems, then it could destroy all components in the computer.
