Oculus Rift: Virtual Reality Headset for Gamers

This is something real and happening. You might have heard about the crowd funding platform Kickstarter where people without resources and without the backing of a large company or corporate can get their projects funded that eventually may become not only interesting but completely successful and profitable. The best example is Pebble, an E-Paper Watch for iPhone and Android.

A similar saga is born, which is in a matter of hours grabbed more than 5K Backers funding more than $1.3 million crossing the pledged goal of $2,50,000 which is a wonderful achievement in itself. This project is Oculus Rift, the first truly immersive virtual reality headset for video games.

The Oculus Rift is about virtual reality headset or kind-of Goggle for gamers which promise much; at least when seen in the first test versions by their developers. The project is created by Palmer Luckey, a guy from Long Beach, California who is enthusiastic about virtual reality, and presents what is the first project that is really worth it.

The project needed $ 250,000 to fund all costs and at the time of writing this post, the project is already backed by 5,535 and has a total funding of $1,349,976.  If we consider that there are still 25 days for the listing to close, and then think yourself about the number of backers and the funding that the project will have at the end of 25th day from now on. From the huge response, we can determine without doubt that the crowd funding process has completely overwhelming success.
