How to use Joystick of PlayStation 3 with Nexus 7 or Nexus 10 without root

If you own a PlayStation 3, or you have a handy joystick on it, then you can easily use it to play games on the Nexus 7 or Nexus 10. Perhaps you have a Nexus 4, but it does not support OTG cable and therefore this method is not for you. It works well with Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 only. The method is very simple and requires you to spend only $2 for OTG cable and a little time, but any difficulties ahead will not only be very simple but will need consistent action.

To connect PS3 joystick to Nexus 7 or Nexus 10, you need:

  • Nexus 7 or Nexus 10 tablet
  • DualShok PlayStation 3 Joystick with a USB-cable for charging
  • OTG cable, which costs only a few dollars on Amazon

If you have all the ingredients to start the process, the case is left for small. Find games that support joysticks on PS3 – it may be FPS. Usually, joystick support is specified in description of the game in the Google Play. Now grab the joystick, use cable to charge and connect it to Nexus 7 or Nexus 10 through OTG. Next you need to turn on the joystick and enjoy the gameplay. Yes, that simple.

Problem is to use a wireless joystick. If you want to play in this way, for that you have to root-access Sixaxis application from the company Sony, which can be found in Google Play. In this case, you can not connect the joystick through OTG, and use a wireless connection to play on Nexus 7 or Nexus 10. If you are not sure how do it all in a right way, then, just take a look at the video below.
