Deleting the Temporary Files (TEMP)

These files are useless since they are just “temporary”. They are just used if you are seeking for the traces of online engagements and other installations and uninstallations as well. You can browse on your system and try to look for the following folder and clean them up:

  • C:\WINDOWS\TEMP
  • C:\Documents and Settings\your username\Local Settings\Temp
  • C:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Local Settings\Temp
  • C:\Documents and Settings\LocalService\Local Settings\Temp
  • C:\Documents and Settings\Your Username\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
  • C:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
  • C:\Documents and Settings\LocalService\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
  • C:\Documents and Settings\your username\Local Settings\History
  • C:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Local Settings\History
  • C:\Documents and Settings\LocalService\Local Settings\History

Those folders are not that important and you can always delete all the files there. If you would like, you can use the ability of Disk Clean Up which is the default program provided by windows in cleaning up the disk space. It is also a powerful tool but, make sure that you are aware that it also deletes everything depending on your chosen options. There is a checklist and you can choose among them on what files you wanted to be deleted.

You can also try settling with the most trusted program in cleaning up disks. You can freely download CCleaner which has its free and paid versions as well. If you are a novice user, it is advisable for you to just allow the default settings on the said program. Mainly, it deletes internet history, files in your Recycle Bin, and other traces of installed programs which are obviously unnecessary.

Free version and paid versions almost work the same in the sense that both versions can delete the unneeded files right away. However, paid version has other options such as uninstaller and other valuable options. Well, if you are just seeking for a cleaner drive, then just settle with the free version. It is all worth it.
