How To Disable Java In Your Browsers

A recent research at Security Explorations has unveiled an unpatched hole in the runtime environment of Java. The exploitation by malware to infect the system has caused much trouble to people, though no big infection has been discovered yet. However, many people are now contemplating to disable Java in their browsers to avoid unpatched hole in the Java runtime environment.

Recently, Oracle has released a patch that allows you to disable java in your browsers till a site asks to download before it opens.

There are steps that will disable Java in latest version of IE, Firefox, Google Chrome and Safari.

To Disable Java in IE

In the top-right corner of the window there is a gear icon, select “Manage add-ons” then Toolbars and Extensions in the left pane under Add-on Types and enter into Java plug-in. Click the Java disable option in the bottom right corner.

Next time you open your IE, a prompt box will pop up to ask to use Java plug-in. Click the “Don’t enable” button or the c on the right of the box.

To Disable Java in Firefox

To disable Java in your Firefox browser is easy. Click Tools ->Add-ons->browser’s add-on manager. In case if the menu is not seen at the top of the browser window, press the Alt key. Then choose Plugins in the left pane and then find the Java plug-in and click the disable button.

To Disable Java in Google Chrome

Enter “chrome: //plugins” in the address bar and press enter. You will be shown number of browser’s plug-ins, scroll to the entry of Java and click Disable.

To Disable Java On the Shelf in Safari

Here is is an easy task. Follow the below given steps.

Safari->Preferences (or press Command), then select the Security tab at the top of the window, and disable Java. Default it is enabled, you just have to uncheck the enable button.
