Google’s Nexus 7 vs Apple’s New iPad 3

Google’s ASUS Nexus 7 seems telling the world at high pitch voice that gone are the days when you had to spend too much for a tablet with the best ever hardware. Really?

Let us find out some of the basic differences between Google’s Nexus 7 and Apple’s New iPad aka iPad 3 in this article. Nexus 7 Vs New iPad 3: Design and Display

There is not much to do with the design of a rectangle, but still surprises are not away. Google’s Nexus 7 looks more glossier than other tablets in the market, and of course from Apple’s New iPad too. Also, you can slip the Nexus 7 into your cargo pocket but can’t with the 9.7-inch iPad.

Display wise nothing can be compared with the Retina Display of New iPad, not even Nexus 7. Google offers IPS display of 1280×800 on its 7-inch Nexus tablet where as Apple offers 2048×1536 pixels IPS panel on its tablet.

Processors

The search giant has come up with the best ever processor in the industry – the quad-core Tegra 3 processor. It runs significantly faster and is expected to deliver a better and smoother performance. On Apple’s side, as ever it runs its own processor. The New iPad runs on quad-core 1GHz Apple A5X processor and got 12-core GPU.

Storage

Google’s Nexus 7 comes with an internal storage of 8GB and 16GB in two versions where as New iPad’s on-board storage are 16GB, 32GB and 64GB on respective versions.

Battery performance

Google claims to offer about 9-hour of battery life for active user and Apple talks about 10-hour on its New iPad. Nexus 7 is equipped with 4,325mAh battery and New iPad got 11,560mAh battery. The battery differences is too much but the differences between the two devices battery hours is very less due to the Retina Display of iPad that consumes too much of power.

Operating system (OS)

Google’s Nexus 7 runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS, the latest update of Android ICS OS. The search giant claims it to offer Project Butter user interface. The New iPad runs on iOS 5 and in few months it will be updated to iOS 6.

Key features

Apple got iCloud/iTunes-connected OS where as Nexus 7 can access Google Play for may of its services. Both the tablets got Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, but 3G/4G option is missing on Nexus 7 tablet and NFC (near field communication) has not invaded the New iPad of Apple.

Google has price tagged Nexus 7 at $199 (8GB) or $249 (16GB) with $25 of Play store credit and Apple seeks $499 to $699 for the Wi-Fi model and $629 to $829 for the Wi-Fi + Cellular models.
