Google Nexus 7 Tablet Vs Sony Tablet S

Sony is a very big brand in electronics and gadgets market where as Google is a new entrant in the segment with its top-notch fame on the Web. The two giants never compromise with quality of their products of any kind. The Sony Tablet S is successful in the tablet market and Google Nexus 7 is doing very well attracting more and more customers every day.

Google Nexus 7 comes with 7-inch LED-backlit IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen providing resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels where as Sony Tablet S sports 9.4-inch TFT LCD capacitive touchscreen offering resolution of 800 x 1280 pixels.

Hardware

In the hardware front the Google Nexus 7 is equipped with quad-core 1.3 GHz Nvidia Tegra 3 CPU and ULP GeForce GPU. The Sony Tablet S is powered by dual-core 1 GHz Cortex-A9 Nvidia Tegra 2 T20 chipset and GPU of ULP GeForce.

OS

Google Nexus 7 runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system where as Sony Tablet S is based on older version of Android – the Android 3.2 Honeycomb OS.

Battery

Google Nexus 7 is fueled by battery of 4235 mAh and Sony Tablet S by 5000 mAh. This may be one the best USPs for Sony Tablet S.

Memory

Both the tablets are equipped with 1 GB of RAM but there is a major difference in their internal memory. Google Nexus 7 comes with 8 GB and 16 GB on-board models where as the Sony Tablet S offers you internal storage of 16 GB and 32 GB, based on which version you opt for.

There is no expandable memory option on Google Nexus 7 but on the 16 GB Sony Tablet S you can expand its memory via microSD cards to up to 32 GB.

Data & Connectivity

Both the tablets support Bluetooth and features Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity. There is no 3G connectivity option on Google Nexus 7 but Sony Tablet S do support HSDPA, 14.4 Mbps; HSUPA, 5.76 Mbps.

Camera

The Google Nexus 7 comes with 1.2 megapixel front facing camera. The Sony Tablet S is equipped with 5 megapixel rear camera with auto focus and front camera of 0.3 megapixel. Both the tablets offer good video recording at 720p.
