Google Nexus 7 Tablet Vs Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

Samsung is giving neck to neck competition to Apple’s iPads with its series of Galaxy Tabs in the global market. Even though Google Nexus 7 is the first favorite to budget tablet buyers, but Samsung is giving more options to choose from its range of Tab 10.1 such as only Wi-Fi, only LTE, Wi-Fi + 3G versions. Well, keeping the varieties apart, let’s find out other differences between the two tablets.

Display

Google Nexus 7 sports 7-inch LED-backlit IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 comes with 10.1-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen. Both the tablets offer a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels.

Hardware

Google Nexus 7 is powered by quad-core 1.3 GHz chipset of Nvidia Tegra 3 where as Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is equipped with 1 GHz dual-core processor.

OS

There is a bit of difference here. Google Nexus 7 runs on the best of operating system – Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 runs on Android 3.0 Honeycomb operating system. Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) OS would have been better on the Galaxy Tab. Isn’t? Well, there is good news too. The device can be upgraded to ICS OS.

Battery

In this part Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is better. Google Nexus 7 is fueled with 4235 mAh battery but Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is equipped with 6800 mAh battery.

Memory

Google Nexus 7 comes in two versions – 8 GB and 16 GB models. There is no option of expanding the memory in it. Samsung offers Galaxy Tab 10.1 in 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB models. The tablet also comes with microSD card to help you expand memory up to 32 GB.

Data & Connectivity

Both the tablets facilitate Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n wireless connectivity. Beside this there is no other option for Google Nexus 7 to connect to the Internet. Here, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is on the positive end with its other versions such as Wi-Fi + 3G and LTE. Both the tablets support Bluetooth and comes with USB 2.0 ports.

Camera

Google Nexus 7 comes with 1.2 megapixel front camera where as Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is equipped with 3.2 megapixel rear camera with auto focus and LED flash. It also has 2.0 megapixel front camera mounted.

The video recording quality of both the tablets are same – 720p, but there is difference in image resolutions. Google Nexus 7 offers 1280 x 1024 pixels image resolution where as for that of Tab 10.1 it is 2048 x 1536 pixels.
