Google Nexus 7 Tablet Vs Apple iPad Mini

Apple’s late co-founder Steve Jobs never predicted that a tablet of 7-inch would be of great success in the market globally. He had a view that actual utility of a tablet PC can’t be compiled into a 7-inch device. Well, with the launch of Amazon’s Kindle Fire it was clear the world is demanding more of affordable and smaller tablet than a large and expensive one as iPad.

Google’s Nexus 7 further proved it to be true and now it is the turn of Apple to join the race of successful affordable tablets. It is coming up with iPad Mini. Let us find out what’s the differences and similarities between Apple’s iPad Mini and Google’s Nexus 7.

Display

Google Nexus 7 sports 7-inch LED-backlit IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen providing a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. The Apple’s iPad Mini is assumed to be equipped with IPS+ LCD display.

The New iPad aka iPad 3 got Retina Display but observers say Mini iPad will not feature Retina Display. Well, it is also learned that the iPad Mini will at least have the resolution of iPad 2.

Hardware

Hardware wise there is no doubt Google’s Nexus 7 is superior. It is powered by Nvidia Tegra 3 SoC processor, which is 1.3 GHz quad-core A9 CPU and 12-core Nvidia ULP GPU.

The tablet is accompanied with 1 GB of RAM. For iPad Mini analysts believe it to be powered by 1 GHz dual-core A5 processor and 1 GB of RAM. Few analysts also suggest it may have a RAM of more than 1 GB.

OS

Google Nexus 7 runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system and the iPad Mini is expected to run on the upcoming iOS 6 OS. It is learned the iOS 6 will be launched together with the iPad Mini.

Price

About pricing part Apple needs to be very cautious as it need to compete with Amazon’s upcoming Kindle Fire HD and Google’s Nexus 7.

Google has priced tagged its Nexus 7 at $199 in the U.S. market and the upcoming Amazon Kindle Fire HD is also believed to have the same price tag. Few analysts expects the price of Apple’s iPad Mini would be under $250.
