Believe it or not, but its true and happening. Facebook has finally turned its attention to mobile. I find the expansive drive of this social media network giant is quite similar to that of Google, which ventured into mobile and other domains after successfully conquering the Internet. The Cupertino guys are now doing the same with its 1 billion users. Oh yes, it has no close competitor, and it rules the digital social world. Also, it will rule for long, for sure.
At a confab in Silicon Valley, Vice President of Facebook recently assured developers and affirmed about the company’s focused decision to make a move. At present, we see 80 percent of the products of Facebook are emphasized on how users use the social network on their desktops. The recent reassurance by VP Vaughan Smith, at least confirmed that Facebook has already taken the decision in giving priority on mobile first.
So, it seems Facebook is now finding the place where money is. The acquisition of Instagram for $1 billion and the decision to let third-party developers purchase mobile ads in user’ News Feeds without being liked by a user’s Facebook friend, have clearly indicated that the social networking website is now quite serious about mobile applications.
As per a report last month there are about 600 million Facebook users who access the platform via mobile phones. More to this, Facebook is also aggressively investing in HTML 5, the programming language used in its mobile website.
With the rising competition in smartphones and decreasing price in the market, the tech world seems to be bombarded with numerous mobile devices every month. Wireless operators have already strived for heavy investment in developing data networks all over the world. Except China, Facebook has already the major market share in social networking business.
