How To Boot From USB Even If BIOS Won’t Allow You

You have created a bootable USB drive after going through one of our guides or such because having a bootable USB drive with you can allow you to fix problems associated with your windows.

But in some conditions you just can’t boot from a USB drive or if you are using a motherboard before when USB became a common place then also you wont get the option to boot from a USB drive.

So in such cases what to do? Don’t worry because we have prepared a guide for you that will allow you to boot from your USB flash drive and restore or fix your windows.

For the purpose of the article we will be using a Ubuntu Bootable Flash Drive that we had created previously so that it also helps you out.

PLoP Boot Manager

For this process to work you need to download a freeware called PLoP Boot manager and wither burn into a CD. When you download PLoP Boot manager it will be downloaded as zip file and will contain a variety of files.

From them locate the file with the name plpbt.iso or plpbtnoemul.iso and burn it into a CD.

How To Use PLoP Boot Manager

1. After burning the PLoP Boot Manager on a CD you need to boot from it.
2. To do that you need to set your boot preference as your CD/DVD ROM drive
3. But if you are using a motherboard which gives you the option to select the boot menu then we recommend entering that Boot Menu either pressing ESC or the key it shows in the first page.
4. After entering the boot menu select the CD-ROM drive and press enter to start the boot.
5. After you have booted in to PLoP Boot Manager you will see a number of boot options.
6. So from the option select the USB and press enter.
7. PLoP Boot Manager will start loading from the USB drive
8. If you are using the USB Flash with which you created the Ubuntu bootable Flash disk then you will notice the Ubuntu setup.
9. Select Run Ubuntu From this usb and you PC wil be booted from the USB flash drive.

There you go a simple guide for you with which now you can use your USB Flash disk to boot into Ubuntu or Windows and can fix your installation or recover passwords.

If your motherboard doesn’t give the option to boot from the USB Flash disk then you should consider updating the BIOS to the latest version by visiting the manufacturer website. You should follow the instruction precisely as you attempt to update your BIOS.

After you are done updating you should see the option to boot from USB Flash disk on your boot menu.
